It appears that the dependent 502 is no longer available, anyone know the reason.
Being a dependent person and recently heard Angus Butt on his, I was considering buying one.

From what I heard, Gerry Pagano started playing the independent one and/or the D model just doesn't sell very well, so why make it?

I personally enjoyed the dependent model's blow and sound more than the indy one myself, but you can see how little they would sell (I wouldn't buy one since it's dependent myself!).

502Ds pop up used every once in a while, you can always keep a look out for that.

I would say Gerry Pagano, the one it was developed with, going Indy was really what did it in. Independent basses are definitely more popular, and it's really never good when your big endorser stops using it for an Independent. I'm sure Edwards definitely got a boost on the B502I when Pagano switched over, as they could say it was an Independent that would satisfy dependent players.

For the record, does Angus play on the rose or yellow version of this horn?

The Rose brass version.

How much a difference in sound would say the rose brass makes? And the indy valves? I’m asking because my main horn is the yellow brass B502i !

I find comparing like for like or as near as is possible, that a dependent setup blows more freely as an open horn but adds a little more resistance to the valves which I like - gives me something to articulate against.

I would be surprised if you contacted them that they wouldn’t be willing to make you one or one that was very similar. They just don’t want to offer a low volume model.

You have to be FAST. They usually sell in a heartbeat. I've only seen the listings after the fact, even though I'm not really in the market for any type of trombone right now.
