I'm a french amator trombonist.

I try to find the model of a King trombone that I bought on ebay but I don't figure out.

There is a lot of interesting information on the website : https://www.hnwhite.com but not on this trombone.


The serial number is 248403. So it would made in 1940.

Big question: what is its bore size? 12.7 mm?

It's seem to be 12,9 mm when I measure the inner slide.

The trombone is from 1940

But in the website hnwhite (https://www.hnwhite.com/Trombone%20Page.htm#Improved) it's say that "The 1405 was the Improved Proportion Model number 1111.Contiuned in production until 1934-35."

It could be a Artists Solo ? :

The larger bore (12.9 mm is about 0.508") makes this an early Concert. That bore size was referred to as "Symphony" in other models. Solo was usually applied to very small bore and small bell instruments.

Another possibility is the Simons model. (Gardell Simons was a trombone virtuoso of the early 20th Century and wrote a number of nice solos).

Is the inside diameter of the lower inside tuning slide tube about 15MM? That would indicate the model Bruce was suggesting.

The inside diameter of the lower inside tuning slide tube is about 13,3MM.

At first glance, it looks like an old liberty 2b with a silver-plated bell but according to the diameter, this trombone is different from the ordinary 2b.
In my humble opinion, this could be an old symphonic model, the predecessor of the 3b plus (2125)
