Anyone know anything about the old selmer altos? I know one sold on the forum and one on ebay but haven’t seen any others in the wild.

I bought the one that was sold here. Unfortunately I haven't had any time to spend on it.
Small bell, 6-1/4", but not a bright sound as you might expect, it's relatively dark.
Friction fit, no slide lock.
The receiver has absolutely no taper so the mouthpiece wobbles. There's some sort of leadpipe but it's not much of anything. Despite those things it plays well. Makes me wonder what a real leadpipe would do for it but I just don't have time to do anything with it right now.
I have no idea when it was made.

I got my alto in the mail from france today. Very interesting. It came with the orignal case and mouthpiece, which i find very comfortable. The bell has a more rose color in contrast to the yellow brass used on everything else. It plays well and a little easier than the shires Q series alto i tried last week at usm. Bell has E40 stamped on it and mouthpiece has 40 stamped on it. I don’t think many do these were made
Bell is a one piece bell and just under 7 1/2 inches and bore is .470 single bore. Mouthpiece does have an extra long shank so i imagine a normal small shank mouthpiece would fit a little differently. Having a lot of fun with it
