Trombone stand replacement screw knob

I have two stands that are missing their knobs. One is an old chrome Hamilton, the other is a Hercules DS520B, which holds the handgrip. They are different sized screws and threads. Does anyone know where to source replacements?

Hickey's has a replacement Hamilton knob for $0.99, which may work:

A good hardware store will have a selection of screws with knobs on them. Take the stands with you and you can find the right thread.

I did just that, apparently Home Depot is not a good hardware store.

No, not a big box store.

Some place with a couple of aisles of fasteners crammed into a space about half the size it needs to be. i'm guessing the Hamilton will have standard/imperial threads of some sort and the Hercules may be metric. That's a complete guess, I don't know.

Cheers,
Andy

Hamilton is 1/4-20
I've been in a lot of hardware stores and never seen screws with knobs. There are places you can order them but I've never been completely satisfied with what I've found

You've got your answer for Hamilton; Hercules has an active website, social media etc. Just write to them!

Failing that, you can use the hardware store screws to work out the thread spec and length and then order a more suitable screw knob online.

Here are a selection of screw types from McMaster-Carr:

Look down that McMaster Carr list to the Spade Head Thumb Screw section.

Home Depot and Lowes carry them, I needed a thumb screw when I made a home made Ergo bone and I got one that fit there. (now I'm using a real Ergobone)

Remember you have to match both diameter and thread pitch.

Hornguys has (had?) replacement parts for some stands in stock. Someone else mentioned Hickeys. If you can find the part from one of those stores, or perhaps another that might have it in stock, that would save a lot of leg work trying to make something work from your local hardware store. A small mark-up for profit for the store and a little postage vs. gas for your car and time searching. To me, that's the best way to go.

Ace Hardware stores in my area have the screws with knobs. With my tuba, I carry a stool to sit on. Thus, the stand is always at the same height. I took out the knob/screw on the tuba stand and replaced it with an ordinary cap screw that I could tighten permanently with a wrench. Maybe you don’t need a knob.
