Does anyone know what the asterisk after the bell number on an Edwards bell means? Thanks!

That it is more recent. Has no change about the bell itself.
You want to get a bell with a valve section that both have the *.

Do you know if the bell won’t work well with a valve section without the asterisk?ZacharyThornton wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:06 am That it is more recent. Has no change about the bell itself.

They supposedly re-worked the jig that is used for fitting the bell-to-valve mounting hardware, or at least that is what I remember in my conversation with Edwards about it. I ordered a new bell around beginning of 2021 and it came with the * marking as well. Needed some adjusting from my tech for a proper fit but no other issues beyond that.MTbassbone wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 11:26 amWhy? Re: Edwards bell: Asterisk after bell number
This may be a half asterisk answer.
I am not sure about the asterisk. But my Edwards bells were with the tab. One from the 90's and one from around 2000 or so. They do not have an asterisk.
When I bought the new CR E valve the tab was in the way. It falls off easily with a torch. But have a tech do it.
The CR E valve and the bracing is really nice.

Re: Edwards bell: Asterisk after bell number
The asterisk has to do with marking what mounting fixture was used. So both valve sections and bells will have an asterisks so you know they are fit to work together. It has been this way for a while actually.
