Just weird.

It's definitely not a bass.

But it's on the internet so it must be true.

Would someone really do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

Are not our semantics, nomenclature and constant need to organize and categorize more than just an arbitrary set of rules created FOR organization and categorization as an end unto itself

Guys, definitely a bass trombone.  It just looks small because they resized the images!

It even says so on the bell!

Wonder who makes a bass trombone sized mouthpiece and calls it 12C?

FWIW, I have a valveless bass trombone, but it has a very long slide with a handle (it's in G).  And it's not engraved "BASS" on the bell.

Seriously - am I gonna have to be the one to do this?

OK, it's not bass ( Image ), it's BASS

Something fishy about this horn.

You'll never have to empty the spit valve.  Seems to be one of those self bailing models.

That bass trombone has probably shrunk in the wash. Also the mouthpiece.

My best guess is some manner of department-store stencil horn that they decided to brand as "Bass" on a whim.

The only marking saying Bach (that we know of) is on the mouthpiece, which could easily have changed at some point in the instrument's history.

Look at the specs on that thing. It's basically a valveless contrabass haha. Who thought that was a good idea?

Bonezilla slide on a straight bass section. Interesting. Probably one of the largest straight trombones in existence!

I'd say the neckpipe is just a placeholder so you could put your own set of thayers on there. It's not a real trombone as is, just parts put together. The glory of the modular system.

I can just see some band director seeing this and deciding that (s)he just has to have their entire trombone section outfitted with them - complete with Laskey 95D mouthpieces to achieve even darker darkness.

And then march them on the Football Field; complaining that they need to play LOUDER.
