Just for kicks, i used my newly bought digital caliper to "control measure" my slides.. My Holton bass measured '562,large bore 547, and my old Conn 78H 522..All according to specs.. My SL 6262 slide however measured ' 553..According to the stated specs it should be '562..Is this a well kept secret, or a manufacturing mistake? I really like the sound of the slide so it doesnt matter much for me... Just curious😉

Where/how exactly do you measure? At the end of the inner slides? Are they not sometimes sloped just a little bit inwards which could then deviate from the actual inner diameter...

Measure at the tenon, or the top of the upper tube with the leadpipe removed - no rounding to deal with at that end

I had a Conn slide tube that came in to my shop around that measurement one time in the lates 2000s. There was an unintentional taper from .553" to .562", I got a new one from Conn-Selmer.

I don't think any taper in any direction is design intent there.

If it's uniform or on the upper tube then I'd probably live it.

Nice to see those kind of inconsistencies.

.553 is almost an Olds taper.
