So I am aware of the following Bach variations feel free to add or quote me and add to the greater list:

6 (I am aware of the ii variation on most instruments)

40 - .525/.547 dual bore; 45 bell section. Sort of a quasi-conical concept

Models1-3 were altos. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 16, 16M, 2X something, 30, 32, 34, 36, 40 (no relation to the 42), 42, 45, 46, 50

5, 7, 9, 16, 40, 46 were dual bores. Everything else were single bore.

Rarest 30, 32, 10, 9, 7, 5, and all the ny altos. I think there were 2 30s made.

I played one of the Bach 30's before it was sold. A-freaking-mazing! .515 bore (if I remember right) 8 inch bell. Very very open playing horn. With lots of code

I had a dream once about a vintage straight Bach 51 that had a slightly larger throat than a normal 50.

Does that count?

I think 2X was 26, based on what was sold at the brass ark. Apparently ultra rare, .515" straight bore and 8" bell flare.

I wonder what the differences are between the 26 and 30 if those specs are correct...

And there are older examples that predate the numeric labeling.

I was a former owner of the Bach 30. There was a twin horn made, but I never found out where the other ended up. Beautiful horn, it is a dual bore, .514/.525. 8 inch bell, wide bass trombone bell throat. Tenor mutes would fall out. Gold brass slide tubes, yellow crook, gold brass bell. The shop card actually said Model 32 and was crossed off and said 30. Horn was stamped as 30. Sold it to someone in Wyoming…

I sometimes regret letting it go as it sounded so glorious, but it had limited practical applications for my work. I thought it would have had more use in orchestral settings. Played it on The Tonight Show a few times and can hear it on my friend Bryan Carter’s song “Not Yet”. Glad I got to enjoy it for a bit.

I’ve shared this link in another thread before, but it’s also relevant here. I wish we had the mounting sheet for the larger instruments. Specifically the 22-34.
