Hey all, i’d like to show off my “new” bass, i think it’s a bad ass horn. Minick bell and leadpipe, Instrument Innovations axials with a Bach 50 tuning slide, and a Shires B62-YC slide. I might be able to link a instagram video, but i’m not sure. It makes a grand sound, very fun and easy to play. I was planning to get a custom shires one of these days but they were too expensive, this whole thing cost under $2000 and is my favorite trombone i’ve played on.

Cool horn. That 2nd valve looks really short for a G valve. Is it more of a flat A-flat or is it really a G?

Nice horn!

Congrats!

I'll post my new bass here too, as soon as I take any decent pics of her.

G valves always end up way shorter than I think. Even though I know the math, I always have to end up trimming another 1/2” off if I want a G with the tuning slide out.

Great looking horn… really makes me want to update my axial cannon now…

Cheers,
Andy

The second valve slide is a little short in general, i have a Gb slide and a G slide. The Gb slide is really sharp, barely in tune pulled out as far as i can, so ive started learning G which is honestly super useful. The G slide is still pretty short and has a little more room before it falls out. The Gb could be more of a flat G, but im not sure.

And don't forget how much pipe is already inside an axial. Getting short enough for G on those is always going to look a bit funky.
