Want to try german alto mouthpieces, any leads?
Hi all,
I'm looking to try out some german alto mouthpieces, just out of curiosity.
What are some german mouthpieces/mouthpiece makers or specific mouthpieces that you've tried and liked or still play on today.
Thanks

I've had JK Exclusive, very well built and not expensive. F and G cups work very well for alto, and you can choose the rim size.

I totally agree with Pedro! Yes, the JK Exclusive series is a great choice. And not just for alto!

Schmidt and Tilz make some very fine German style pieces

I am using a Josef Klier JK Exklusive 9G on my B&S alto and think it is a really nice combo. (But haven't tried much else really
There was one with the instrument (just saying 16-TA) of which I think it was way to small resulting in very bad sound and intonation in the lower range. Than I tried a JK Exclusive 7G which was just a little to hard and a little bit to dull in the high register.
Got the mouthpieces used for about 20 € each.

Klier mouthpieces are generally very good value for money and offer a really broad selection of sizes combining rims, cups and bores. Plus some more customization, e.g. rim width/profile and bore are available for a fair price.
When I tried some of their mouthpieces for alto, they seemed too long for me. I am always on the edge of being too flat on alto and this made it worse.

How about this?
Bruno Tilz Modell Schreckenberger Serie 810-8
I love it and it's very easy to play.

Another vote for JK, they are relative cheap and have high quality. I have one USA design, with screw rim. I have other two with large rims and shallow cup, which I could sell. That been said , I had other mouthpieces from USA , and they also felt amazing. There are so good mouthpieces out there.
