FS: Meinl und Lauber Tenor Sacbut

Post by ttf_tfp43 »

I am selling a Meinl und Lauber tenor sacbut.  It was originally built at A=450, but has an extension that puts it at 440.  It does not have a tuning slide, but is tuned where the bell and slide come together, since the receiver and shank are cylindrical rather than conical and can be adjusted all along the length of the connection.  This eliminates the cylindrical areas in the bell section where the tuning slide would be on a modern instrument.  Years ago the crook at the end of the slide was made removable so that the instrument could be extended to lower pitches by putting longer crooks there rather than using mouthpiece receiver crooks or crooks at the juncture between the bell and slide.  That is why the long ferrules visible in the pictures are there.  If one wanted to use that option, other crooks would have to be made since only the 440 one that is on the instrument is available. However, if preferred, the crook could also easily be resoldered to the slide. The bore of this instrument is .460.  Included are 430 and 415 crooks that fit into the mouthpiece receiver, a case, and the Bruno Tilz mouthpiece that came with the instrument.  This instrument was played for several years in the New York area on period instrument concerts and on recordings, including a solo recording.  The price is $3400. plus shipping; PayPal is preferred.  My email address is      ][email protected]      Pictures can be seen at          https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0QGrq0zwJs5MOP
