: Just an idea I’ve been researching, how much conversioning does it take to put a Conn bell on a Edwards/Getzen valve section? Always been interested in how a conn plays with Theyars. Specific combination is Getzen 3062 with a Elkhart 62 bell, and a modern Conn 62 slide.
Not a serious project, just researching for funsies

Tuning slide receiver and bell stem are way, way bigger on Getzen/Edwards than just about anything else.

Yes, you'll need to use the Conn tuning slide.

Does a modern 62 tuning slide fit an Elkhart bell?

Elkhart 60 series trombones didn't have traditional tuning slides. The 70 series did, but they are considerably smaller in dimension over all. (I did the measurements at one point. You could literally fit a 70 series tuning slide crook inside a 69 series bell branch, if the bends were the same shape)
So, you would need to use an Elkhart bell flare, with an added tuning slide receiver tube of appropriate size to suit the tuning slide being used.
You would need to alter the lower tuning slide tube too, though, as Getzen use a larger tube on that side too.
None of this is impossible, by any means!

Sorry if this has been asked somewhere else recently, but how would one go about modifying the slide receiver
and lower slide tube?
