I do before rehearsal starts and keep my pouch of lubricants at my seat, but i dont typically use any during practice. I find as i play it stays working well, if im sitting for most the time then i might if it feels slightly bad.

Good slide, clean, a few drops of lubricant (Yamaha or Slide-O- Mix), a brief mist of distilled water on the lower end of the slide: will typically last through an entire set (< 2 hours) before another water spray.

I've been using the Yamaha lube for several years now. The trick with that stuff is to NOT use water!
(Still, I give it a spritz occasionally, if it starts feeling slow.)

If I were using any other brand, I would spray far more often.

I haven't used water in a decade, I think. No problems.

Yamaha on all horns. I tried Ultra-Pure, it was ok but not better than Yamaha.

I keep the small Yamaha spray bottle in my pocket (about the size of a lipstick). I mean, one doesn't need a gallon of water in their mute bag. Now, a flask? That's completely different.

I never spray, and I can get several days before relubing. I think the spray just washes the lube off.

That said, there's plenty of humidity in my breath, and condensation in the slide, so it's not just the lubricant without water.

Suoerslick cream and Superslick Plus oil. Spray with tap water before playing and may spray again if the slide gets sticky because I haven't re-lubed or if it is sluggish because I used too much Superslick. Not really fastidious about slide action. The spray bottle is about $1.00 at Wal-Mart. I usually buy 2 or 3 at a time as I am bad to loose them and I even give some away.
