I inherited this from my father who grew up as a missionary's child in Shanghai. His trombone teacher was the 1st Trombone in the Shanghai Symphony somewhere around 1930. He, (his teacher) was known for being able to play trios himself - playing one note, humming another with the harmonic making a trio. I would like to find out more about this instrument. I am loathe to sell it, but am considering doing so as I am 75 and none of my children want it. I am a wood turner and my lathe just died and am thinking this might be a source of funds (which are somewhat scarce which enable me to replace it.

Anyway, whatever I decide, wanted to more about the instrument. My father had the horn checked by a brass expert around 1956 who judged it being in great condition, straight alides, etc.

It is a Conn #3 Bore, Ballroom Model Trombone - Model 40H - Serial Number 254910 Also has a 40H stamp followed by 954910 with a six-pointed star.
