Post by Garoissimo »

Don't suppose anyone knows of a good repair shop in the San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara CA area?

Not since Larry Minick passed away in Cambria more than 30 years ago.

Fortunately, there are some world-class trombone technicians in Los Angeles and Orange County.

Hey - Thanks for responding! Wow I never realized Larry was in Cambria. I always imagined him in LA for some reason.

Ok, so I guess it is either drive to LA or SF/Oakland. Or spend a whole lot of money on shipping.

There may be decent repair folks closer to you - I just don't know them.

Of course Larry Minick was legendary. He moved to Cambria and spent many years there, and died much too young (age 55).

Of the LA-area techs, Brad Close (https://www.brassmedic.com/) is probably the closest to you; he's in La Crescenta (well north of Los Angeles proper).

I don't have personal experience with them, but I've heard good things about The Horn Shop over in Fresno. That's a little closer to you than LA.

What about John Sandhagen? He’s pretty darn good. He’s in Claremont.

He is great. But it's a solid 4 hours away from SLO.
