Difference between Olds 12C and 12C⭐️

Post by Driswood »

A friend has a 12C⭐️ and I have a 12C.
What’s the difference? They look and measure the same, but play very differently.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I have had the same question regarding Olds 1 vs Olds 1⭐️, and Olds 3 vs Olds 3⭐️

Perhaps the ⭐️ versions are sprinkled with fairy dust? :idk:

Related question - I'm looking for an Olds 12C with the vintage smaller shank for a '47 Olds Special

Does your have the vintage smaller shank?

The star used to mean standard small shank. Non-star meant Olds-small shank, and would sit further in on other horns.

The reason they play differently probably has to do with the backbore/Venturi relationship that you are manipulating.
