Weird looking pre-war 70H on the Bay

Someone's advertising this 70H on eBay with a serial number from 1935.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126110687398

Unusually, it doesn't appear to have tuning in the slide (or in the bell?),
and it appears to have a krantz under the silver plate.

Any ideas?

Looks like the tuning slide is a long reversed type- kind of J bend style.

Also looks like the bell is cut down to 8.5", perhaps

Shouldn't a 1935 70H have tuning in slide? That's an interesting horn, that's for sure.

Wasn't Conn at the time a custom shop as well? That could account for some of the unusual features, like the bell rim and long tuning slide in the bell section.

But then again, wouldn't custom orders have a star next to the serial number or model number (or spec)? This doesn't have that.

Intriguing nonetheless. :???:

This doesn’t look like a factory job to me. Bell locknut isn’t original and too many ferrule details that just don’t quite match.

Very intriguing work though.
