I am selling my very nice Holton large bore trombone. Model TR170.
The TR170 features the Holton typical nickel silver slide with 8 1/2´rose brass bell (instead of the 9`bell used on the TR150 or TR159) and f-attachment. Great playing and sounding large bore horn.
Slide and valve work well. The laquer of the bell section and two braces have been removed to make it more vibrant. Very responsive horn. (like an Elkhart 88H).
Pics on request.

TR170? Never heard of that model.... isn't a 8 1/2" standard large bore a TR156?

The TR156 has an 9' bell. The TR170 is the only Holton large bore I know with an 8 1/2 ' bell.

Ah! Sorry you're right I meant the TR158! I have a fellow bandmate who has a 8 1/2" large bore and I'm pretty sure it's not marked TR170...
What year is your horn from?

The TR158 has an 9` bell as well.
I have played a lot of Holton horns. (mostly vintage Frank Holton horns f.e TR150 and 168). I like the Holton sound and feeling.
The TR170 plays and sounds in the line of this older Holton horns. It is from around 2000.

TR170 was most common in Japan, as it was designed for Masakatsu Kurita, principal trombone of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
