Visited my folks for the holidays and got some play time in on the horn I learned to play on. A Continental Clarion, from sometime in the early 20th century. My grandfather had received it as payment rendered for legal services. This was the reason I played trombone....we had one. Who knew it would end up being one of the loves of my life. Has many design features that are similar to the Pan-American trombones that were produced by Conn for many years. Very cool that an old piece of metal can lead to so much inspiration.

FWIW, there's an entry over on horn-u-copia.net that says:

Continental Music Company imported instruments before the brass line became Pan American stencils in the mid 1930s.

Looks much more like a Conn product than in import.

Very cool, appreciate the info. If it helps, the inners aren't plated, I can't remember when that became standard but if memory serves it was much later.
