Yamaha YSL-691 question

Hello Everyone,
I have a Yamaha YSL-691 from around 1990 that has JJ stamped on the slide hand brace. Anyone know if they all had this or could I have a horn that JJ rejected because the slide wasn't very good? I know he switched to this model around that time. I bought the horn from the Woodwind & Brasswind. Any ideas? TIA
