I'd go absolutely no higher than $1495 personally.

Aidan,

I'll trade you my WWII U.S. Army bugle for your Laetzsch Contrabass.

The bugle has a great high range! :pant:

This pains me, but I'll offer up my Wessex Piccolo Trombone. I'll even include the display stand.

Oh yeah, I tried one of those a few years ago and I didn't even get a note out of it first. Super hard to center. I can relate /s

Stefan Schultz doesn't sound bad on his. I did the odd ring cycle on the company one before the Rath happened. Needs a smaller mouthpiece. Try your bass mouthpiece in it.

Suggestions for a replacement? Aidan, how's about you trade me that old thing for my shiny yellow pBone? Much better for lead parts in a big band, and if you twist hard enough you can still use the same mouthpiece that you are using in the video. Genius design. Whaddya say, ol buddy ol pal? 😆

April Fools!

This horn is the best horn in my stable... the easiest to play in almost every way. I've played all the good contras and this one is by far the best, including the Rath :amazed:

Right now I use it with a Greg Black CB and Doug Elliot rim, but everything seems to work pretty well in it.

I had to lead you into trying a bass mouthpiece....my April fool.... They come with a monster Bruno Tiltz mouthpiece.
I cannot believe you played a well set up Rath. We made the Rath after an evaluation of the Latzsch and it outplayed the Latzsch in every way. My prototype still does.

So... that's NOT how Laetzsch is pronounced?

I think the tipoff was the comment about using it for lead. You sounded great on that video clip and I knew you weren't serious about about dumping it.

Btw, the Besson 2-20 is still available. It's just on the wrong end of the country for you.

I have been corrected on it so many times... It's too late for me!

Which Laetzsch? This is the most modern one with carbon rotors. I think it plays better than most basses, or tenors for that matter. They come with those three piece(?) Laetzsch mouthpieces these days, though of course I didn't get one.

I will say the Rath is a good 2nd place, it actually sounds and plays like a trombone unlike some of the other makes.

The company Latzsch is 34 years old and my Rath is 20 years old. So, almost new.
