This past February, I found a listing on Kleinanzeigen for an extremely old Contrabass trombone in the key of F. After some time, And some logistics, it’s here in the states!

Here’s a few photos of the horn:

In the contrabass trombone world, this is kind of like an early Mt. Vernon Bass. The horn sports a 10 inch gold brass bell, which unfortunately got crushed while shipping. The two valves pitch the instrument down to Eb / Bb, and combining the two gives a low A. Overall a super cool horn that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. If you have any questions about the horn or any history behind it, I can do my best to fill you in on what I know.

Many, MANY thanks to SwissTBone for helping to land this horn in my hands, all the way from Germany!

That’s all!

Nice! Once you get the bell repaired, I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

Much like my old horn!

Get a D slide made and the triggers split and your set.

Mine was much easier to deal with with an Ergobone.

I remember that horn!

I know a guy who could probably split the triggers… we’ll see!
