OFF MARKET - PLEASE DELETE.

Thank you!

For sale is an early Antoine Courtois trombone. It is mostly of interest for historically informed performance folk to play in period orchestra, but just as a trombone it is an amazing one. Very small bell and bore to match (bell is a hair under 6") but plays surprisingly easily.

Mouthpiece is not included--the mouthpiece receiver is somewhat smaller than modern small shank receiver, but the difference is small enough that you could play it with modern small shank mouthpiece without issues. But I do recommend to get a vintage French mouthpiece with very V-shaped cup to go with it, especially if you are planning to use it in period performance! Some historical brass makers like Van der Heide can also make you one in proper style.

It doesn't come with a case either at the moment--but I am looking for a suitable one and if/when I find it I will update the listing. A simple universal case will accommodate it just fine, but I have one more trombone than I have cases at the moment, so...

Raw brass, which is somewhat rare--more commonly silver plated in this vintage.

I purchased it from Brass Ark a few years ago (paid a bit more than my asking price), and used in period orchestra performances several times. I had it professionally cleaned and adjusted since purchasing as well, and it is in clean, perfect working condition currently. Selling because I found another one that comes with extra crooks to play at different pitch(es) than A440 (though I have never been asked to play it at anything other than A440 so far!).

Please email or PM for pictures.

Shipping is from Rhode Island, USA. Asking $600 plus shipping, or best offer. If you are going to Historical Brass Society Conference in July, I might be able to bring it. Thank you for your consideration!
