Did you change the slide tubes to make it a single bore horn? Or are you saying that because the slide can be turned over and it fits?

If it's engraved "2B", it's dual bore. If it's not, then it's probably a "Liberty" and not dual bore.

It says Liberty on the Bell and above the design it says 2-B. And yes, the slide does reverse, so I am sure it is not dual bore. Let me know if you would like to see photos of the trombone. You will get the quickest reply if you email me at [url=mailto:

On King dual bores, the slide will still reverse. The tubing on the upper stocking is thicker. Check by inserting the mouthpiece gently into the end of each slide inner to see if it goes further into the lower one.
Gotta say--the price seems pretty far out of the ballpark. They tend to be selling on Ebay for between $500 and $800.

My eBay searches on King 2B trombones came up with a price range of $1850-2,000 for horns from the 50's and 60's. This horn was made in 1949.
Liberty trombone are more rare. The only one I could find on eBay was priced at $1850 and was made in 1960.
As for dual bore or not, I can say that the slide moves smoothly with the stockings reversed. And the slide is super smooth in the correct orientation!

Those around $2000 usually are Silver Sonics with sterling silver bell.

The trick on Ebay is to look at "sold" listings, not current listings. Ebay is haunted by people looking for that one great deal. They leave items up for months or even years, hoping someone will bid at their inflated price.
Here's a link to sold listings of King Liberty 2Bs.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=king%20liberty%202b%20trombone&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
The highest any of them went for was $1085, and that horn was near mint. Plus you get a much higher price on Ebay because you have a larger potential market.
Prices for Liberty 2Bs in sold listings:
$475, $501, $630, $760, $1085, $700, $700.

Thanks for your input. The age of the horn matters to people, oder, great-sounding instruments being worth more.

I sold my non-dual bore 1935 Liberty for $425...lacquer was old, but it played well. Seemed to be the going price. 2Bs aren't that rare,either... I'd agree with Euph on the pricing. Good luck though!

The 2B series were dual bore horns. Yes the slide will go on upside down but that is because King soldered one stocking on and the other was drawn in the inner tube. So the slide on 2B's are reversible. You would have to get some calipers and measure the inner diameter of both stockings. It was a common modification to make them single bore. The "Jiggs" horn is single bore but it was designed that way.
If its dual I may well be interested!

Belated reply to jnoxon:
I will be able to get the actual bore sizes to you on Wednesday. I can take the 2B to a local music store, where the brass guy will measure them for me.
But to be sure, are you still interested if the Liberty 2B is dual bore?

Price on this is very negotiable. If you need to know whether or not it is dual bore, let me know. I can take it to a local music store to have the bore sizes measured.

You can measure them yourself. Insert the mouthpiece into the end of each slide tube until it barely settles in...no force. If it goes in further on the bottom, it's dual bore.

Okay...it is dual bore! I put a mouthpiece in both inner slides at the top, and out of curiosity, at the bottom of the stockings. The bottom slide is larger at both ends of the inner slide.
