A 2024 jazz solo recap

So the other day I was browsing through my phone and listened to some of my mobile recordings made throughout the year. And some of it resonated and started to feel like that not everything was bad this year and there was some development happening. So I thought about a small recap with things that felt like they're moving in the right direction and have a positive development.
Sorry, some of it is not the best in quality and those are just live concert snippets recorded with my mobile.
So, the first positive thing for me was a trio gig in February, playing some standards with bass and guitar. I called Stablemates because it's a tune I never felt super comfortable with and it often felt sturdy. That performance was the first time, where I felt pretty happy with how the lines went. Still some spots here and there, but overall very happy how this has developed and that practice has led to something:

Next is from an outdoor gig in summer. Session-Opener, lovely weather and nice atmosphere. Just some lovely memories. We were playing Impressions, up-tempo and most of it flowing pretty freely.

A little bit later, another session-opener set, first jazz gig with my Williams 8, just some ballad theme where I was pretty happy with my sound and the theme felt very naturally although I had not played that tune for a while.

Throughout the year there were plenty gigs where I was unhappy afterwards because I felt like I had played too much again. Way too much, too many notes instead of playing nice and easy. This was another standard gig and I was really aiming for playing less and more melodic. I've been so happy when I listened back to the recording and found out it was working and absolutely worth it. This is Tricotism:

Last but not least, probably the solo with the best development in this year from another very fun session opening set. So much energy by that rhythm section (drums, organ and guitar) which lifted everything on a new level. A Pat Martino minor blues (forgot the title)

Honorary mention:
A video with a bit better sound. I've been sick very often and for pretty long this year. So I've been more than happy that I was able to play at least two concerts with my duo and most of my music. This was after I've been sick for a month and basically hadn't played much for that long. And it was the encore of a super exhausting duo concert which was still huge fun. Not everything is working out, but definitely a lot especially for being out of my usual playing routine. Showed me that hard work for years is still paying off even if you can't play or practice at all. Super grateful for that!
Short solo over my tune Dreary Sunshine:

Thanks 2024! Let's see what 2025 brings....
