Crack on tuning slide

Can this crack be repaired? If so, does it make sense to repair or just replace/remake? I would think the area around the crack might be weak also. It's from an older ('50s) 78H.

A good repairman might be able to apply a patch over that. The only thing might be if the area around it is stable, but then, maybe they would suggest a larger patch. Some of the old Conns had a metal guard installed across the top of the tuning slide. If the whole area is quite thin, maybe something replicating that might do the trick.

I think The 78H tuning slide crook is listed in the Allied catalog. Just replace it

Whoa, that area looks to be missing a lot of metal on the outside, and probably the inside. If the part is available, replacing it would be a much better solution.
