strange rattle/buzz

I'm inconsistently getting a strange buzz/rattle when I play my King 2B. It occasionally happens on some notes, but not usually all notes. The notes it does happen on seems to change and it is not limited to a particular range. It doesn't seem to be coming from the slide connection threads, nor do I have any loose braces.

Does it happen where a piece of solder comes loose but is trapped so that it vibrates at certain frequencies, causing the noise? Any other ideas what it could be, or how I might inspect to verify the problem?

Thanks

Could it be the slide lock?

1) is a horn new to you?
2) is it a buzz or like the bell is ringing

it is possible that a bead of solder has come loose you cannot see so it's just buzzing around inconsistently. is there a particular part of the horn the buzz is coming from? the best way to tell in that case is to just press various spots of the horn with your hand and see if it goes away ask you play notes

Don´t mention that.
I think that was the reason I returned my Yamaha 354 and bought a Bundy.
Best vs worst beginner trombone.
I started on an old trombone choir instrument and noone told me the the slide lock has to be turned completely when open. I tried a second 354 and it also rattled.. OK, I was eighteen.

I have one of those on my Bach LT36B, just below high Bb, but rings a bit on both high Bb and A. Seems like the F-attachment is resonating, and there is something loose on that that is making a buzz. If I pull the tuning slide on the attachment out, it resonates lower.

I've had the horn almost three years and this buzz is new. It often happens at louder volumes but also occurs during soft playing and sounds different from a ringing bell.

Following your advice, I grabbed various parts of the horn and indeed, squeezing around the bell, near where the distinctive King swoop brace connects, causes the sound to dampen or disappear. There is a relatively large piece of sheet metal that covers the part of the bell where this brace meets it. Assuming this connection is weak, what is the repair?

"Sheet metal"? That makes it sound a bit like barn roofing. Is the "relatively large" piece of sheet metal the base of the brace? Generally, this is what causes these problems -- the solder gives up and the base detaches -- ever so slightly -- from the body. I've had it happen on a tuba once and it took quite a while to find it.

But it seems you've found it. If that's it (and IF the problem isn't some loose little solder bit on the inside of the brace somewhere), the solution is just to resolder that base to the horn. A couple of minutes with a butane torch if you have one. (Well, maybe a few minutes longer if you take the time to clean it properly, get to the bare metal, flux it appropriately, ...) If you don't have said torch. Take it to a tech and he/she may well fix it on the spot for you.
