Recently came into possession of my grandparent's old record collection. It had been sitting in an old barn acquiring layer after layer of western Idaho dust, but at least half of the old vinyls were still in reasonable condition. They were classic greatest generation types, so a lot of it is easy listening swing and dance band favorites. I've been playing through the collection and while most of it isn't really my style its been a wonderful time capsule experience.

One of their favorite artists seems to have been Ray Conniff, as they had several of his albums. Whoever was playing bass trombone in Ray's orchestra was really honking out some great stuff. I'm wondering if anyone knows who it might have been?

I believe the Bass Trombonist was Ernie Tack who was one of the top Studio Bass Trombonist in California.
There's a clip of Ernie doing his special Dance in the band rather than playing trombone, this is in the 1st Video at around 2:56, really weird but I believe it was his party piece
