Cortner went to Oberlin and after graduating went to NY. Early 60's. Played trumpet, but being a skilled orchestrator and composer left the trumpet behind. Has some Broadway credits, wrote the theme music for Edge of Night and As the World Turns. Wrote the Monday Night Football Theme. Arranged for Manilow, Patinkin, etc.

Also interesting-Tony Studd during his tenor trombone years. BTW that's a killer lineup.
