Another Stinky Case Thread

A pic being worth 1,000 words, here is a recently-acquired case that I am going to attempt to re-furbish. It was a flea market find, yes it has that old, musty basement smell, but it is a woodshell case that seems to be structurally sound.
Having tackled at least a half-dozen before, I thought I would post these pics to show why I have posted here before that I don't believe sprays, such as Febreeze, or setting the case out in the sun for a few days has a long-lasting effect. The problem is the smell, whether mold or old glue, gets embedded in the wood. Often, when I peel the covering back, there is visible mold.
The only permanent remedy is to take it down to bare wood, sand, clean, and treat it, then re-cover and re-line.
A big job, not recommended unless you're a bit crazy like me!
