Posting pictures- use Imgur

Post by Burgerbob »

All right, folks. Time to use something other than the trombonechat image function. It's a couple more steps but you can upload as many photos as you want and they don't take up server space here.

First of all, head over to imgur.com and use your google account to sign in.

Then make a new post:

Upload your pictures, either by drag/drop or finding them in explorer:

Once they are uploaded, Imgur will tell you and show you previews. Right click on the picture you want, and select "copy image address:"

Paste that URL into your post, and highlight it. Then click the little image icon at the top of the post editor:

It'll end up looking like this in the editor. Now go ahead and post, and you have images in-line with your text!

Good hint! This also works with most other publicly available pictures (not social media): right click on the image and copy the image link. Then insert it as Aidan described above.

I only suggest having an account so you can access the albums in the future- it's nice having the library available. But obviously no need to do that if you don't want!

Simply putting them on Google Drive would work as well, wouldn't it -- if you set the access permission correctly?

Google Drive, Onedrive etc. Should all work if the access permission is correct.

Imgur images sometimes disappear on other sites like Reddit. I don't know if it's the story taking them firm or that they expire. That might be a vote against it. I'm used to imgur images being in weird slide shows with imgur branding all over them. But yours don't look like that ! (I'm assuming your post used imgur, right?)

That will only happen with deleted accounts and removal of inappropriate images. I have my full library going back 10+ years on imgur.
