Steve Wiest posted about this over on his media project JamTrek.

If someone knows who were the performers on this recording, please chime in!

I haven't listened to the piece yet, but just seeing that it's Nelson Riddle I immediately assume the trombones are Dick Nash, Tommy Pederson, and George Roberts, as that's who Nelson used for years and years.

Riddle identifies Dick Nash and Tommy Pederson, and George Roberts when available, as his key trombonists for his Hollywood work in a 1967 interview, but that doesn’t necessarily establish that they were the trombonists on the recording, which is credited to “Nelson Riddle and His Orchestra.”

Short of finding a copy of the liner/cover notes, your best bet for identifying the trombonists might be to contact the archivist for the University of Arizona School of Music, which houses the Nelson Riddle Collection. There’s a PDF of the collection’s holding on the site, but the description of recordings doesn’t appear to include musician credits.

Thanks for the U of Arizona reference. I sent an inquiry to them, maybe they'll respond sometime after Easter weekend.

That's a common frustration with some of the labels: proper credits.

Got some possible leads:
Steve Wiest Andrew Meronek From Alan Kaplan: It likely was Russ Brown on bass trombone. People like Harold Diner and Juan Tizol worked with Nelson around that time. My guess by listening is Joe Howard or Lloyd on 1st. Tommy Pederson could have been there too but I don't believe on 1st

That's a lot of supposition, and Alan wasn't around at the time of the recording. But it does kinda sound like Lloyd Ulyate on first, now that I listen to it. So that could be.

I’ve never heard this recording before. Woof! It’s also on Spotify.
