Need measurements for Olds, King trombones

Post by Mamaposaune »

I'm re-furbishing a case (unknown brand) and asking a favor of Olds, King, and any other small-medium bore horn owners that may have an instrument with a shorter-than-average slide. (No Bach, Conn, Selmer; I have already determined they will not fit)
Could you please measure and post the total slide length from the top of the tenon to the tip of the rubber bumper?
Also, the length from the main bell brace to the edge of the bell would also be appreciated.

Here are some good Olds numbers for you by inches. Also included bell size.

Model (year), Bell, Tenon to tip end, Brace to bell end

Recording (‘68-69) 8, 31.1, 12.5
Studio (‘58-59) 7.5, 31, 12.5
Super (‘46-47) 7.5, 31.5, 12.4
Special Bell (‘47) 7.5, 12.3
Self-Balancing LM-7 (‘36-37) 7, 31.5, 12.3
Ambassador slide 30.8
It’s a fine line between clever and stupid.
