Hello folks, I have a Conn Elkhart 88h for sale.

It dates from the early 60s. It's seen plenty of use and most of the lacquer is gone but I think it looks pretty cool. There is plating wear on the stockings and the slide action is not great. If you're not fussy about slides, you'll probably be ok. I was intending to have the inners replaced but got a good deal on a really nice modern 88h so the project is now for someone else.

The good news is... The sound, and it was a difficult decision to sell it for that reason alone. Classic, luscious rich Elkhart gorgeousness, all registers, all dynamics. No dead notes, no funny business around high Ab/G/F#. The horn has a press fit Brass Ark seamed copper Elkhart 8h leadpipe with a proper Morse taper. These pipes have been universally well received and I suspect it's one reason why this horn plays as well as it does. Lastly, the string linkage on the valve has been replaced with a miniball lever. Comes in a hard Conn case.

I paid a fair price for the horn in the condition I thought it was in, but in the spirit of honesty and wanting the horn to go to a good home, I'll have to undercut myself. €1100 + postage (probably very similar in $US) and I recognise that the buyer might want to budget for some tech work, so there's a bit of reasonable flexibility.

For pictures, please PM me your email address and I'll send a selection plus close ups of whatever you want.

P.S. Probably needs a new water key cork soon.
