I got a DE mouthpiece that the shank will not unscrew from the cup. Tried soaking it in CLR and some hot water but neither worked. Suggestions?

You can put them a few minutes in the freezer. Works for me every time!

At a recent exhibit I ran into a stuck shank I couldn't get off with the tools I had at the time.  It was an old one and hadn't been removed for about 25 years.  I could probably have removed it in my shop.

Other than that, I've always been able to loosen stuck parts as described in the link.  No freezing, heat or soaking necessary, and no damage.

Actually I've never tried the freezer...

2 things - pardon my stupidity for not seeing the thread on how to solve this problem.

And it worked in a matter of 5 or less impacts!

I always loosen the rim and shank after playing, and store them that way. Have never had a rim or shank stuck in 13 years of using Doug's pieces.
