Looking at a used 5B in good shape. Does anybody know what the bore size on a 5B is? Thanks!

There are several "flavors" of 5B. I think the dividing line is the mid 1960s when the model numbers went from 14xx to 20xx. The newer one is 0.547" on both tubes -- it's basically the same slide as the 4B. The older ones can be either a dual bore 0.536"/0.547" or single bore 0.547".

The main difference between a 4B and a 5B is the bell taper and size.

After reading that other 5B thread I think I'll steer clear for now. Very confusing. And buying without trying (via internet) is a real crap shoot!

If you check the serial number, you can find out when it was built. Given that, you might be able to determine if it is a horn you are interested in pursuing. I've got an early 70s 4B, .547 straight bore, and love it.
