I am excited!
I purchased this one on the weekend for not much money.

I learned here on the forum that the YSL-352 is the predecessor of the YSL-354.
The 354 is sold as an intermediate instrument and so I am hoping that the same applies to the 352 as well.

In any case, it was another basket case but I have almost completed it's resurrection.

It has a great tone and it will be my travelling to and from lessons horn.

Bernt

Big problem with the 352's and early 354's was that the chrome plate on the inner slide would buble up and flake off. If yours doesn't have this problem yet, you probably are safe.

Good luck with it.

Oh no,
yes, it has some chrome pitting in 2 places. I thought that was corrosion due to sitting in someone's cupboard forever. It is minor at this stage and has no impact on performance.

Could I buy a complete new slide for this if need be?

A Yamaha 354 slide should fit. As might several others.

Check to see if the pitting has sharp edges. Sharp edges will attack the outer slide tube.

I have seen 354's with that, but I've owned a bunch of them and it hasn't happened to any.

Good advise. I will ensure that no edges are sharp.
