Hey all, particularly the cats in the UK and EU (guess it's still all EU for now!).

Are Rath trombones manufactured to be shorter than American trombones? Are they produced with A442 in mind? I ask because I already play all my horns with the tuning slide pushed in 100%, especially on alto. I am always hunting for a better Eb/Bb alto, but the ones I like (and Rath too), aren't the kind you could cut the tuning slide on.

I never really have an issue, and I just play shorter on the hand slide if it's cold or a 442 ensemble, but it'd be cool to maybe have a tuning mechanism that actually works instead of always using factory tuning.

The in slide tuning on my Rath Alto has a long slide piece, I suspect t could be a D alto if one wanted. It doesn’t seem to work then other way. With the tuning slide all the way in, it’s maybe 441. My R3, on the other seems to need a longer tuning slide, but that might be me playing too short.

My R1 at least is normal 440 length. I play with my tuning slide maybe 1/2" out with an Elliot XT C+, D2 setup. Mine is an early one though so maybe they've changed?

As I understand it, they are built to be 440 instruments, with tuning slide space either side for most players.
