Very long and tedious to watch the whole three-part video which is mostly just shots of plastic pillow blocks being machined, but part 3 shows what he's after--a gear-and-belt-driven "heads-up" display that marks the position you're in, theoretically putting the note in tune.

Especially useful for deaf trombone players.
