DONE! length of shires large bore bell section

Post by andym »

FYI: I finished the project (putting up a wall mount stand) and so more measurements are not needed.

I'm hoping someone can make a quick measurement for me. What is the length of a Shires Large Bore bell section from the rim of the bell to the top of the taller of the two tuning slide crooks (when pushed in). For details my horn is circa 2002, 1R bell, rotary valve. But I'm happy to take other measurements. I'll be adding some safety margin to my use for this. I just don't have access to that horn at the moment.

Thanks!

Hey there,

I just measured my shires large tenor bell section with standard rotor valve. I'm measuring mine at approx 28.5 inches.

I've got a 7YLW and a 7YLW detachable flare for reference.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Spencer. That’s only a 1.5” longer than my small bore. I’m trying to make sure I don’t put a wall mount stand too high and not be able to put any of my horns on and off.

Other measurements welcome to make sure we’ve captured the variability.

Thanks!
