Conn 72h or 71H Measurements Needed

Post by Fairlane57 »

Hi I have a beautiful flat style case from the 50s'/60s'. I want to find out if a 72H or 71H bass trombone will fit the case. If you have one of these instruments, please send these measurements.
End of bell to top of tuning slide.
End of slide connection to top of tuning slide.
Length of slide on both sides.

Thanks, Bob

The slide on Conn 70 series basses is approx 34in on the long side and approx. 33in on the mpc side.

The slide measurement is the primary concern as no other manufacturer, especially modern manufacturers, make a slide that long. As is i had to grind off the very tip of my slide so it could fit in a 70/80s Holton case i had to modify to take my modified 71H.
6H (K series)
Elkhart 60s' 6H bell/5H slide
78H (K series)
8H (N series bell w/ modern slide)
88HN
71H (dependant valves)
72H bell section (half moon)
35H alto (K series)
Boneyard custom .509 tenor

Conn 71H (1969):

Bell end to top of main tuning slide: 24-1/2 inches
Bell end to top of F-attachment tuning slide: 27 inches

End of slide connection to top of main tuning slide: 12-1/2 inches
End of slide connection to top of F-attachment tuning slide: 15 inches

Upper slide length to tip of rubber bumper: 31-3/4 inches (stock soldered leadpipe)
Lower slide length to tip of rubber bumper: 33-5/8 inches

Good luck, Bob
