Andalucia Trombones

Hello. Anyone ever played an Andalucia trombone? They have a .525 bore straight horn and some large bores available.

From what I understand they are Chinese-made stencil horns, with a design and QC approach in the same vein as Wessex's (i.e. paying the Chinese manufacturer a premium for better quality than the 200$ horns they also make, plus potentially original or modified designs rather than the generic designs used for the cheap horns).

Their trumpets, from what I have played of them, were okay. I wouldn't buy one. Quality of manufacture was ok. I am not sure if their trombones are like their trumpets but I figured I would toss this out there.

A friend of mine actually knows the owner of Andalucia and played with him back in the day when they were both in the Blue Devils Drum Corp.

He is a trumpet player so his trumpets are a bit better than his other horns since that’s his specialty but I’ve tried his large bore silver plated f-attachment horn, large bore axial valve yellow brass brushed lacquer horn and a silver plated small bore trombone.

To be honest they are decently made for being made in China . Sturdy but hit or miss on quality control and playability wise are pretty quirky/stuffy compared to other brands I’ve played.

They are great beginner, student or maybe even advanced player horns but I eventually moved on from them and haven’t looked back. Even with getting a pretty good deal on them (at cost) direct from the man himself I’ve invested my money elsewhere with Lawler & possibly will try M&W here pretty soon and call it a day.
