King 1480 Trombone on ebay

Tried to share a link to this auction - hope it comes through.
Anyhow, there is a silver-plated King 1480 from the 30's currently on eBay. What struck me as strange about this horn is the rotor - it looks backwards. On the right side, where the rotor cover would normally be and it would rest near the left side of the jaw, it looks as if the part that is normally on the other side - the arm that connects it to the trigger lever - is on the right side.
Anyone else notice this? The pics aren't great, maybe I am seeing something that is not there.
My husband has a 1480 from the early 70's, and the rotor is in the "normal" position.
Yeah, I have too much time on my hands these days. I'm not looking to buy it, just curious to see what's for sale.

Must be an early model. Looks like the slide is friction fit as well.

That's my horn! What a coincidence! I am a bit on the fence about letting it go. It has an amazing tone. Yes, the valve is on the the "other side". It's from 1930-35. It just got back from the shop and slide was aligned and rotor adjusted.

I actually came here with a question for the hive mind. The mouthpiece receiver measures 9/16" across. It takes a large shank mouthpiece all the way up to the hilt, so to speak. Has anyone seen this size shank? Are there extra large shank MPs?

That's typical for 1480's; King's large bore receiver is an odd size and taper. I play mine with a standard large shank mouthpiece, but if you want one that really fits, your choices are limited. The factory mouthpiece (King 29) fits; Doug Elliott makes shanks that fit.

Yep, the 1480 I used to have also swallowed normal large shank pieces, but they played fine. Cool horns.

Thanks guys! Yeah, the standard large shank seals and plays fine. Just goes in deep. The horn really does sound/plays awesome.
