Video With Pixie/Plunger Work

Post by ssking2b »

Here is a video from a concert on Friday night 4/23/2021 of HAPPY FEET performed by a group I play in "The IN Crowd". My part was comping the singer and the whole band during the whole tune on pixie mute with plunger. My students tell me its a good example of this when its NOT a solo. So here it is in all its retro glory:

HAPPY FEET

That's cool. Playing in the holes for fun and profit.

This kind of thing is actually a great improv exercise, too. While playing along, I'll just pretend I'm supporting someone else. It makes me feel pretty strongly the change that usually occurs at the end of your phrase. And it works great to throw in some of this in a plain old solo, too, even if there is no lead.
