Brass Medic Mt. V 50 leadpipe size comparison

Post by bassboneman69 »

Hello all,

Does anyone know the specs of the Brass Medic Mt. Vernon 50B leadpipe (mine is rose brass) as compared to the Edwards B3 (stock) leadpipe?
I assume they are close.
I am curious just how close?
Obviously the materials are different. Yellow vs Rose brass.
But in terms of shape, length, and other factors of the pipes.
I hope someone has not already postulated this topic.
Thanks for any help…

Way, way smaller. The MV50 is probably like an Edwards 1 or 1.5 in terms of size. The NY50 is larger than the MV50 and it's still maybe a 1.5 (which is similar to modern 50 pipes).

What he said.

I use a Brassark MV50 in one Shires slide and a Shires B2 in the other. The MV50 definitely feels smaller - the slot feels similar to a Shires B1.5 but more flexible. The lengths are just about the same.

Yes, the MV50 was a special Mount Vernon pipe with a tighter venturi, and the NY50 was a special New York pipe with a more open venturi.

I like the Mt V 50 w my single bore slide and dual radius tuning slide. As Gabe mentioned it slots better.
I want to feel as “safe” as I can when I play…

As well as the NY50 pipe is shorter than the MV 50 pipe.
