Laskey bass throats

Post by Indiebass1993 »

Hey all!

Does anybody happen to have the specs on the Laskey bass throats? Rim diameters are easy enough, but I'm finding nothing on the throats

Eyeballing it vs. my .312 GB,

90D, 93D, and 95D look the same size. I have an Ultimate Brass piece that is .318 and it looks obviously larger than any of those.

Take that with a grain of salt, of course... this is me putting them next to each other and squinting!

Bass throats were .312 in the 90-95 range. The 85 was made at a .300. The tenor pieces vary drastically. Granted, some play very differently, no matter what the micrometer or calipers read.

I knew I could trust my eyeballs!

Agreed, though, all 4 of the 93Ds I've had were completely different.

Published specs for the 90, 93, and 95D were all .312, and I believe it. I think the 85MD is .281

Thanks all! I'm very aware that Laskey pieces can vary more than other mouthpieces, but I was trying to get an idea of what to expect roughly once the trombone mouthpieces are going to be re-released.

I owned many 93Ds and saw a lot of variation in other dimensions, but I think the throats were all the same.

I always thought the 85MD had around a ,295 / .296 throat. Certainly could be mistaken. :idk:

.295 matches the two 85MDs that I have...

I had and still have some 85MD. All are 295.
