Conn 88HO vs M&W 322

Post by travis »

I’ve been playing my Conn 88HO for 20 years. It’s an amazing horn but I’ve had it since the 8th grade and I’m wanting to try out other horns. One of the trombones I’ve been looking at is an M&W 322. Has anybody played both? How do they compare? Thanks in advance

I personally didn‘t play the M&W 322, but a friend of mine tried both horns in 2020. In terms of sound the M&W 322 is far superior.

I would wager that a M&W 322 set up the same as your 88HO will be a better instrument. Definitely more carefully assembled and produced. You could always change things up a bit as well material wise. M&W makes incredible instruments.

I'd take an M&W 322 over just about any 88H, and I love my 1962 88H. M&Ws are some of the best large tenors out there.
