Left wrist wrap

Post by Bach5G »

I typically use a Caldergrip with my Benge bass. The grip is not perfect but it’s pretty close and I can’t imagine how anyone plays double trigger without some sort of assistive device.

Out of curiosity, I went back to a strap a couple of days ago and quickly strained my left wrist. There’s some pre-existing and tear there. The strain responded well to anti-inflammatories and to bracing. Today it’s mostly fine.

But today I wore a tensor bandage wrap around my left wrist for a bit of additional support. Practiced about an hour and 20 minutes with no issues. It seems like wrapping the left wrist before a long gig or practice session might be a good idea. Does anybody do this on a regular basis?

I wore a "golfer's glove" or "bowler's glove" when I was experiencing problems with my left wrist. It DID alleviate the problem for a while but I soon discovered that I'd only forced the problem into my elbow and shoulder. Trust me ---- it was a career ending mistake. An ErgoBone support removes all of the weight of a bass trombone from your left arm and I used one for quite a while but eventually bought a Butler Carbon Fiber C12 bass. Those are two solutions that I know will work. Good luck in your decisions. Don't "tough it out" ---- you won't win ! :clever:
