my King 3b's identity crisis

Post by SamEdwTbone »

My dad gave me this horn a little while ago, I love it, it plays beautifully and is my baby, but recently I realized that I've never seen an engraving like the one on mine, could it be a custom engraving?

Here's one of the photos from Sam.
I've not personally seen this engraving before. It "may" have been special ordered?
It also has the King logo inside the bell, which was pretty common in the 90's, early 2000's.

For some reason they were made that way in the mid 90s. I got this one I think.. uhh... Late Fall of 1994. THere should also be a "KING 3B" inside the bell.

Mine was just a standard 3B that came from Victor's house of Music. I tried to find out long ago what was with the engraving, but even the guy from Victor's didn't know. "Just showed up that way" was what he told me.

1993 was the "100th Anniversary" of King, and they did put out some special models for that year. Maybe after that they decided to add more engraving for a few years.
