Looking for a 1480 tuning slide
I'm looking for a tuning slide for a 1480, 1485 or any compatible 5b or other model. I'm not sure what else would be compatible.
Measurements from my existing slide:
The bell side is female and ~.848" OD, slide side is male and ~.690 ID.
CtoC distance between legs is ~5.18"
Diameters are different depending on where you measure the legs.
I need a second tuning slide for a plugin valve project.

Texas Horn Trader to the rescue. Main Tuning Slide $99. Looks like it will need some dent work. You'll need to contact them to confirm measurements are the same, if they'll do that for you.

I'm not 100% that's the same part. He's got a 5b, and mine is a 1961 1480. As I understand it at least the bell is different. Plus, it's really beat to hell. Going to need that much again in repairs. We'll see.

Well, it didn't fit, and its pretty beat up. This is the second thing I've bought from him that didn't fit.Blabberbucket wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 5:30 pm Texas Horn Trader to the rescue. That stinks. You confirmed the dimensions you needed and then received something that didn't fit?hyperbolica wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:19 pmWell, it didn't fit, and its pretty beat up. Not answering for him; but I have attempted to confirm dimensions multiple times with that seller. For the general populace, I would not expect a response. Attitude seems to be , buy it or not— don’t bother with details.Blabberbucket wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 7:04 amThat stinks. Ah, bummer. Sorry. Now I feel bad for recommending that posting... I would have assumed an instrument component reseller like that would be able to provide some measurements to ensure the part is correct.

Don't feel bad. I had already seen it, and had sent questions. It's on me. He seems to take returns, so it's not all lost.Blabberbucket wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:32 pm Ah, bummer. Sorry. I would buy roughly $1K worth of parts from him if he would confirm a few things, so his loss, I guess.Blabberbucket wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:32 pm Ah, bummer. Sorry.
